フランスの建築家兼デザイナーであるシャルロット・ペリアンは、1927年に24歳で Salon de l'Automne に “Bar under the Roof” というクロームスチールとアルマイトで作られた家具を展示し、一躍脚光を浴びました。 その後、彼女はル・コルビュジエの事務所に籍を置き、ル・コルビュジエや、ピエール・ジャンヌレと様々なコラボレーションをしました。 このコラボレーションはほぼ10年続きます。 彼女は1929年の展示会 Salon d 'Automne' に「居住設備：racks, seats, tables」を出展しました。これらの家具は、その後Thonetによって製造され、後にCassinaブランドによって製造されました。 1940年からの彼女のデザインは、日本からの影響も感じさせます。1940年から1942年までの日本での長い滞在は彼女に強い影響を与えました。 1962年からは、サボア地方のスキーリゾートにおける大規模な設計プロジェクトにも取り組みました。

Charlotte Perriand, French architect and designer, became widely known when she exhibited at the Salon de l'Automne in 1927 at the age of 24 with “Bar under the Roof”, a piece of furniture made of chromed steel and anodised aluminum. Shortly after, she was invited to collaborate with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. This collaboration would last almost 10 years. She exhibited with them at the Salon d 'Automne' of 1929 with 'The Equipment of Habitation: racks, seats, tables'. These furniture were subsequently produced by Thonet and later by the Cassina brand. From 1940 her style was strongly influenced by her long stay in the Far East, especially Japan from 1940 to 1942. From 1962 Charlotte Perriand worked on a large-scale design project for various ski resorts in the Savoie.
