A vintage Kabuto Chair designed by Isamu Kenmochi and manufactured by Tendo Mokko.
Born during the establishment of modern design in postwar Japan, this product pursued a fusion of functionality and aesthetic beauty, against the backdrop of technological innovations in molded plywood.
The organic form, reminiscent of a samurai helmet, is a reinterpretation of Japanese aesthetic sensibilities within the context of modernism. The shell, seamlessly connected from the back to the seat, envelops the body, providing a comfortable seating experience.
The contrast between the deep blue upholstery and the light steel legs is beautiful, giving it a simple yet sculptural presence.
