This is a masterpiece low-seated chair designed in 1955 by Katsuhei Toyoguchi, who dedicated his life to researching chairs for Japanese people. Its curved seat conforms to the shape of the buttocks, distributing weight evenly, while the wide backrest provides firm support from the lower back to just below the shoulder blades, making it comfortable even for extended periods of sitting.
The first model was manufactured by "Tendo Mokko" and adopted as the chair for the reception room of the Akita Prefectural Government. Although it was soon discontinued, Yoshio Akioka, who had a close relationship with Toyoguchi, was so impressed with the chair that "Mono-Mono" revived it in 1983 and has continued manufacturing and selling it for over 35 years.
These chairs are believed to be early vintage pieces manufactured by "Mono-Mono", Circa 1980s.
