Very old large black chest, made in Japan.
Furniture from the Meiji era. (1860s-1900s)
Material is cedar wood.
Black chest of drawers used in rural areas in northern Japan.
Item used with great care, repeatedly repaired and painted.

Design is simple and rustic.
No unnecessary design, ultimate simplicity.
Beautiful lattice doors.

Doors and drawers move smoothly.

This chest was used in two stacks.
However, you can also separate them and use them side by side as low chests.

The top key works, but the bottom key is missing.

A very valuable piece of Japanese furniture with a wabi-sabi aesthetic.
